Summer Internship Position
River Arts seeks a Summer Intern who will work alongside RA staff to help with our full lineup of summer camps, events and adult programs. Interns will gain real-world experience in their area of study and experience what it’s like to work for a non-profit community art center. With guidance from RA Staff, interns will create a specific plan of study for a 10 week internship.
Number of hours: 25-30 hours per week
Compensation: $15/hour
Days of internship: Monday- Friday
Application Deadline: May 24th, 2021
Length of Internship: 10 Weeks
Start date: Monday, June 7th, 2021
End date: Friday, August 13th, 2021
Goal: Interns will gain experience in working for a non-profit art organization and will add to their portfolio with all materials developed during the internship.
Areas of Internship Concentration and Mentorship
Business Operations and Marketing Internship
Examples of work in this program include but are not limited to the following:
Intern’s capstone project will focus on the development of new marketing strategies for River Arts
Intern will assist with daily business office operations
Intern will photograph programs and events
Intern will work with staff to posting content to social media
Assist with data entry and archiving files
Greeting visitors to the RA building and assisting with answering phones
Intern will gain experience in: Salesforce Software, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Squarespace
Arts Education Programming Internship
This program will include but are not limited to the following:
Intern’s capstone project will focus on the development of innovative and educational art programs that serve the RA community
Intern will assist with daily supervision and management of youth summer camps
Assist staff in updating Squarespace website to keep RA blog current
Assist in designing e-news mailings that highlighting upcoming events and programs
Intern will gain experience in: Adobe Creative Suite, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Squarespace
This position is paid $15/hour. The right candidates will possess the following qualifications:
Is enthusiastic about community art
Enjoy working with people - especially children
Has good communication skills
Works independently
Demonstrates responsibility for oneself
Manages time well - prompt and reliable
Is tech-savvy
Has prior experience in Google Drive, Docs & Sheets
Must have the ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time, bend and stoop, lift a minimum of 20 lbs, grasp and complete repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
