Spend the day moving through the techniques of stained glass pattern making, glass cutting, and soldering by creating a beautiful botanically inspired piece in a colorful glass. Each student will work through the process of creating a stained glass feather and leave with a finished piece and basic knowledge of the stained glass process. There will be a lunch break from 12-1 pm.
Dayna Sabatino (she/her) studied stained glass in the Bay Area of California initially at The Stained Glass Garden in Berkeley, where she worked under many talented and established glass artists at the top of their field. Dayna spent 10 years in Oakland and Berkeley eventually teaching courses in glass art, building commissioned works for Artist Sabina Frank, and performing restoration work with Starbow Studios, from small lampshades to large church windows. For a few years, Dayna was the studio manager at The Institute of Mosaic Art in Oakland, that was then owned and directed by globally known mosaic artist, Laurel True.
After returning to the East Coast (glass tools in tow), Dayna landed in Vermont, married and became a mother. Currently, they are living on their land in their handmade, off grid home. Dayna has taught stained glass and mosaic technique at art centers throughout New England, including The White River Craft Center in Randolph, VT., Artascope Studios in Yarmouth, ME., ArtisTree Community Arts Center in South Pomfret, VT. and RiverArts in Morrisville, VT. and has collaborated with The Arts Bus.
