Want to get out of the house and have fun on a Friday night? Why not try out a new skill while you're at it. Every month, River Arts hosts a Sip N' Slurry class (paint and sip for clay) and this January we’re exploring hand-building butter dishes. Join Instructors Jude Prashaw and Lisa Wolfgang to learn basic hand-building techniques like slab rolling, coil building and surface techniques.
Jude (she/her) believes in “Art that Nurtures the Soul and Honours the Journey.” She has a background in healing arts, and enjoys teaching people “no-fail” approach to handbuilding pottery. Jude asks the questions “How do we journey within our world? What helps us stay afloat? Where do we find mercy? When did we become so serious?”
Lisa Wolfgang (she/her) is a lifelong clay lover. She currently has a mug collection problem and is excited to share some of her acquisitions with the group as part of this workshop. Lisa doesn’t consider herself a potter, wonders if people read these descriptions online, but really enjoys teaching workshops and getting nerdy with the slideshow presentations in her classes. She is a firm believer that anyone can make functional pottery and believes that if shown a range of techniques, people will intuitively find their own style of making that excites and enlivens them.
