Notes from the Board - Tricia Follert
What vision comes to mind when you hear River Arts?
Do you think about the great community arts center located on Pleasant Street in downtown Morrisville? Do you think about the public art on the pavilion at Oxbow Park, the murals along Lamoille Valley Rail Trail or the great art on the walls at the Post Office or Morristown town offices? Whatever your vision is start expanding it. River Arts is all of the above and so much more.
Did you know?
A group of potters and want-to-be potters meet on Sundays and have created some fabulous pottery but more than that, they created great friendships. River Arts is so much more than a visual arts center, it is a place that elders meet weekly to be creative together, a poetry group that gets together and writes and critics each other’s work, a place that children come together and have messy art and it lends itself to being a creative space that is dedicated to hosting a weekly drawing class. This is just a tip off the iceberg of what River Arts is to our community, there are camps, classes, performances and private lessons to fit the needs of everyone.
Stop in!
Please stop in and check out their gift shop of locally made products and while you are there wander around the galleries, check out the pottery studio and connect with your local community arts center, “River Arts for Everyone”. If you didn’t already know, I think you’ll be really impressed with what programs they have to offer, the friendly and very cool staff, the amazing galleries and you will see what an asset River Arts is to your community.
