  • 74 Pleasant Street Morrisville, Vermont United States (map)

SATURDAY MAY 6
9:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Ages 15 +
$115, 60+ Reduced Tuition Available | Financial Assistance Available

Students will spend the day working with the incredible Black Ash tree to weave small gathering baskets. The process starting with pounding a log will be demonstrated and students will get their hands on it. However, students will use pre-prepared materials (black ash that the instructor has prepared) to weave their baskets. Students will walk away with a beautiful gathering basket, an appreciation for the Black Ash tree and its incredible properties that lend itself to basket making, and the ability to pursue this craft on their own.

Justin Sutera is a Wilderness Skills Mentor and Basketmaker living in Elmore, VT. He is passionate about helping students of all ages connect more deeply to the natural world through traditional skills. Ever since being introduced to Black Ash basketry as a teenager, it has captivated him and he has been working this craft ever since.
