We're Hiring Teen Assistants for Summer Camps!

We may have just received another 6 in of snow, but here at River Arts we’re dreaming about Summer Camps! If you are a local teen or parent of a teen, we’re excited to announce that we are hiring teen assistants for the following camps!

  • Cooking and Clay Camp Monday June 20th - Friday June 24

  • Fashion Camp; Upcycling, Mending and More, Monday June 27th - Friday July 1st

  • Creatures Camp; Sculptures Riding Bikes, Monday July 4th - Friday July 8th

  • Art in the Barn; Collaboration with Hope Grows Community Farm Project, Monday July 18th - Friday July 22nd

  • Eco Arts Camp; Collaboration with Lamoille County Conservation District, (River Arts Location) Monday July 25th - Friday July 29th

  • Messages In Art; Theatrical and Multimedia Arts, Monday August 1st - Friday August 5th

  • Sk8 the Arts Camp, Monday August 1st - Friday August 5th

 

Summer Camp Teen Assistant Job Description

Teen assistants will work alongside RA instructors and staff to help with our full lineup of summer camps. With guidance from RA Staff, teen assistants will help to set up and clean up projects, supervise activities, assist during snack time and outdoor playtime, and act as role models for younger students. Teens may assist with check-in and check-out at the end of the day, take plenty of photos and videos for marketing, help enforce social distancing/mask protocols, and help with behavior issues. Teens can choose to facilitate only one camp, but preference will be given to teens who are able to assist multiple camps. Teen should expect to arrive to River Arts no later than 8:30 am and stay until 3:30pm Monday- Friday. Not all summer camps will require the help of a teen assistant. The River Arts camps season runs from June 20th - August 5th.  

This position is paid $15/hour. The right candidates will possess the following qualities:

  • Has previous experience supervising children

  • Is enthusiastic for art

  • Has good communication skills

  • Demonstrates responsibility for oneself

  • Manages time well

  • Is prompt and reliable

  • We prefer assistants to be at least 16 years old but will consider applicants ages 14 and 15.

We ask that teens indicate which camp(s) they would like to assist with and send 5 images of pieces of artwork they have created. All mediums and levels of art-making are encouraged.
