Upcoming Exhibition: Vermont Watercolor Society Fall Juried Show

The best of watercolor paintings from Vermont artists will be on display in a juried show starting November 13th at River Arts in Morrisville.  The historic downtown building will host over 30 artists participating in this show with subject matters varying from still life, outdoor studies, portraits and more.

“This is a special opportunity for River Arts to host such a varied and creative look at watercolorists in our area,” says Stephanie Drews-Sheldon, Executive Director of River Arts. “We had heard that the show was looking for a new venue since they initially planned to have the show in a space that was compromised from the flood. We contacted Gary Eckhart soon after and made room in our River Arts Gallery schedule for this special opportunity.”

Gary Echart,  Director of Exhibitions for the Vermont Watercolor Society, was thrilled to continue the show at River Arts.  “River Arts is a great fit for the show, ”says Echart. “The space is warm and inviting, and people can really envision what these works of art would look like hanging in their own home.”

Watercolorists from all over Vermont will be participating in this show including Caroline McKinney of Morristown.  “Vermont Watercolor Society is a good group of friends and acquaintances who share a love of the medium of watercolor,” says McKinney. “It is always fun to see what VWS artists choose to show and what the juror chooses. This show at River Arts is special because they were able to make this happen  in spite of the cancellation at the Montpelier venue. We are grateful that the show was able to continue.”

The Vermont Watercolor Society accepts artists of all levels of expertise from beginners to nationally recognized artists. The vision of the Society is to promote and strengthen the art of watercolor painting in the state of Vermont.  A reception for the show will consist of over 10 awards given out by internationally recognized watercolorist Susan Weintraub of the American Watercolor Society who will be serving as juror and judge for the show.

The Vermont Watercolor Society Fall Show can be viewed at River Arts located at 74 Pleasant Street in Morrisville and will run from November 13th-February 8th.  Reception and awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 18 from 2:00pm-4:00pm.
