River Arts presents “Through Our Lens“, a photography exhibit created by teens and young adults participating in the The Big Picture Project, January 8th through March 2nd, 2015 in the Common Space Gallery at the River Arts Center in Morrisville, and at the Morrisville Post Office. There will be an opening reception on Thursday, January 8th, 5-7p.m.
“Through Our Lens” is a collection of work created during The Big Picture Project, a partnership between River Arts and the Lamoille Family Center’s Families Learning Together program. The six week project began with a trip to Montreal where participants explored street photography using digital cameras to document their experiences. The mission of the project was to help increase awareness and self-esteem through the creative process. The group, led by professional artist and photographer, Kelly Holt, explored architecture, art, culture, and portraiture using experiential photography. A book was published in 2015 with a larger collection of images from the project.
Over the past two years, River Arts has worked in partnership with the Lamoille Family Center to serve teens and young adults with high quality arts programs and experiences. Other collaborations with the program have included culinary arts workshops, self-portrait photography, portraiture (drawing, painting and sculpture), and an artist book workshop.
