Pastels with Patti Braun -
In this series of classes, Artist Patti Braun will cover an introduction to painting with soft pastels. She will demonstrate how different materials, pastel strokes and layering are used to create a wide range of effects. Color harmony, composition and design will also be considered in this process. Students will be encouraged to use these techniques to develop their own style of pastel painting which will show the fresh and unique qualities of the pastel medium.
Bio: Patti Braun is a landscape artist who paints primarily on location. Her main focus is to be able to paint nature accurately while conveying the emotions of being out of doors, in that special place and time. Her inspiration comes from the mountains, meadows and streams all around Vermont. Patti received her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art, where she also studied sculpture. She has attended many pastel workshops from various national artists including Richard McDaniel and Jim Markle. She was most recently a juried participant in the Alden Bryan Gallery’s 2012 show, “The Pastelists”. Patti is a member of the Vermont Pastel Society. She lives in Hyde Park, Vt.
