The Gallery at River Arts celebrates a powerful collection of images, colors, textures and constructions directly inspired by Vermont rivers and water meditations in the group show – River Works. There will be an opening reception on Thursday, May 7, from 5:00 – 7:00pm.

Alanis brings expressive abstraction to her paintings and charcoal drawings, while Sargent’s work speaks to man’s impact on the natural world. Miller’s photographs reveal his multi-faceted connection to rivers:  emotional, historical, aesthetic, visceral, and sensual.  Frederick’s drawings, paintings and scrolls function as conversations and maps of her native surroundings, while Fahey’s paintings reflect the juxtaposition of the powerful and soothing qualities of rivers. Sturman’s painting of Ricketson Farm in Stowe is spellbinding in its translation of light. Lipke describes her video installations and vessels constructed with handmade paper as “a subtext to the cyclical, regenerative and spiritual properties of water.” Each piece in River Works brings own unique dialogue to the conversation many visual artists have with nature.

Gallery Hours: Monday-Thursday 9:00-4:00p.m., Fridays 9:00-2:00p.m, closed Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call 802-888-1261, or visit their website at www.RiverArtsVT.org.
