This week, Wednesday, May 7, the market expands outdoors. Over 30 vendors will be on site in the River Arts Center and out in the Municipal Parking lot. River Arts has been awarded a $75,000 challenge grant for our capital campaign! In order to receive this we must raise a dollar for dollar match. We want to match this grant with new donations and pledges as soon as possible. A 1:1 match will bring us $150,000 closer to our goal! Join us for an evening of great music while supporting a great cause at the River Arts Center on Friday, March 28th at 7PM. Part of WLVB’s Roots Are Showing program- bands featured on the radio show will play at the River Arts Center to support music scholarships.
The River Arts Center is nearing completion and our staff is scheduled to move in and set up our home base by the end of February. Programming in this intergenerational community arts space will begin in March. In warmer weather, the outside work (painting, landscaping, windows) will be completed.
Fundraising for the building project is currently in progress. To date, we have raised $679,066 in grants and donations.

In the early 1800s, public education in Morristown and most of Vermont was limited to scattered one-room schoolhouses. If you wanted to continue beyond eighth grade, you had to pay your own way to the Lamoille County Academy—
The Sheetrock mudding is almost done, and the walls are being primed. The trim is being restored as well. The building will be brought up to it’s original beauty soon! After that the painting and the floors will be next.
Leonard Spencer’s crew can be seen here prepping the upstairs ceiling for plaster restoration. Sticking out of the ceiling is the sprinkler system. This will be recessed into the ceiling once
The building crew can be seen adding copper flashing to the bell tower. The bell in the tower is the original according to Historian and Board Trustee Dawn Andrews.
Yesterday Donny Blake’s crew started working on the bell tower. Otherwise the sheet rock is almost done, and the insulating was just completed today. Things are looking wonderful. Give a call if you’d like to look around! 888-1261

This week the crew cut out the ceiling to make way for framing in the lift (elevator) that will make the upstairs accessible to all.
