“8 Regional Artists,” an exhibit of photography, painting, artist books, and charcoal drawings celebrates a diverse group of artists in the region and kicks-off the newly created Gallery at River Arts. These works will be on display June 3-August 21
Brief descriptions of featured artists’ work: Bethany Bond is a photographer and web-designer, who contrasts visual imagery to create visual poetry. Janet Fredericks uses paint as a vehicle for exploring water, the landscape, and text. Marie LaPré Grabon develops deep illusionistic space from which charcoal images emerge. Ken Leslie observes environmental change and personal transformation through Arctic landscapes and artist books. John Miller explores our Vermont countryside through digital photography weaving views of land and Lake Memphremagog in this body of work. Victoria Patrick uses Victorian-era antiques and alternative developing methods to transcend black and white photography toward a sense of timeless beauty. George Pearlman paints color squares in relationship to each other to create illusionist space, spacial plasticity, and tension. Lauren Stagnitti uses photo-journalism and traditional fine art influences in her approach to her work.
