Mary Regele
Pilates classes take place at the River Arts Center in the upstairs Folley Hall, giving us lots of room to spread out. You don’t need to register or come to every session, classes are drop-in on Monday’s and Thursdays and last about 1 hour. Bring a mat if you have one, if not there are a few available on a first come, first served basis. Classes are $5 each.
Pilates is an exercise that focuses on the core muscles that help balance the body. The exercises use the persons own body to create resistance so each person can easily customize the level and intensity of the workout for themselves. It also focuses on breath control which helps to deepen the workout. Pilates works all the trouble spots: arms, abs, butt and thighs and it works them while lying down!
Mary runs an intense, but slow paced class where she clearly demonstrates for each movement how you can tailor it to your needs and modify it for safety. She adds humor to help get through those last few repetitions. The lights are low and the music is soft to create a warm, relaxing atmosphere. You’ll come away from one of Mary’s pilates sessions more relaxed, stronger, standing straighter and perhaps a little sore. Come try it out!
